How SubHub estimates work
SubHub estimates are approximate planning outputs based on the information entered and the pricing logic available for a supported project type. They are not bids, appraisals, supplier quotes, or guarantees.
Inputs and outputs
The estimate flow collects category-specific details such as dimensions, material choices, project characteristics, and city where supported. Results can separate planning ranges for materials, labor, equipment, and other components and may produce a material list or timeline guidance.
Why an estimate can differ from a quote
Field measurements, access, demolition, hidden conditions, design details, code and permit requirements, labor availability, taxes, delivery, product selection, market changes, and contractor methods can all change actual cost. Missing or incorrect inputs reduce usefulness.
Provider rates and supplier information
Where a professional has published applicable rates, SubHub may show a provider-specific estimate. That still is not the professional's binding quote. Supplier promotions, rough product pricing, and material lists do not confirm stock or final purchase price; contact the supplier directly.
Use estimates responsibly
Use the result to refine scope, identify questions, and compare complete written proposals. Have the site inspected and measurements verified. The selected provider's written quote and contract control the actual scope and price. Keep a contingency appropriate to unresolved conditions, based on professional advice rather than a universal percentage.
